There are a lot of great games for the Playstation 3 for that age group. If he's into soccer like a lot of kids I would recommend FIFA Soccer 12. If he's into basketball then NBA 2K12 is a great choice. And for those kids that are into role-playing games there's Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception which has high reviews but unfortunately does carry a T for Teen label.
